Are there medical studies that document the effectiveness of Spinal Decompression Therapy?
What system is used for this purpose?
Do most patients receive therapy and rehabilitative exercises in addition to Spinal
There are actually few reasons that we must exclude a patient from spinal decompression treatment. These include:
Implantation in other areas of the spine do not contraindicate spinal decompression. For example, a fusion with metal plates in the cervical spine does not prevent us from performing spinal decompression in the lumbar spine.
After a significant amount of research, Tanner Chiropractic chose the Triton® DTS™ system manufactured by the Chattanooga Group, the premier manufacturer of physical medicine equipment.
With its unparalleled design, proven history and the Chattanooga Group behind it, the Triton® DTS™ system is the gold standard in decompressive traction therapy.

Who can benefit from Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Tanner Chiropractic offers the most advanced treatment for neck and back pain, introducing Spinal Decompression Therapy using the Triton DTS system.
DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy is FDA cleared and has been clinically proven with an 86% success rate for pain associated with herniated or bulging discs...even after failed surgery.

Are the sessions painful, how many will be needed and what is the cost?
The Triton® DTS™ computer is the key. It controls the variations in the traction pull allowing for spinal decompression and eliminating muscle guarding that is typical in conventional traction devices.
The preprogrammed patterns for ramping up and down the amount of axial distraction allows for higher levels of spinal decompression and disc rehydration.
In almost all cases, the treatments are completely painless. In fact, some patients fall asleep during the spinal decompression session. Specific treatment plans are be determined by the doctor after your examination. Based on current research, the best results have been achieved utilizing 15-20 sessions ($45 each) over a 6-week period. Another HUGE benefit of choosing Tanner Chiropractic, is our low price for the treatment. Shop around and you will find every other clinic charging $120 - $150 PER SESSION!! We charge $45, with no hidden costs!
Anyone who has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated, protruding or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).
Are there conditions where Spinal Decompression Therapy is not indicated?
We also selected this system due to its ability to treat discs in both the neck and the low back. The Triton DTS is the only machine of its kind to offer both cervical decompression and lumbar decompression.
To reduce inflammation and assist the healing process, supporting structures are treated with passive therapies (ice/heat/muscle stimulation), chiropractic adjustments (as indicated) and/or active rehabilitative exercises in order to strengthen the spinal musculature.

Most certainly! One study documented by MRI up to 90% reduction of disc herniations in 10 of 14 cases! Another study reported that 86% of ruptured disc patients achieved "good" (50-89% improvement) to "excellent (90-100% improvement) results after spinal decompression therapy!
What is DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy?
The vacuum effect accomplishes two things. From a mechanical standpoint, disc material that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines of the disc can be pulled back within the disc by the vacuum created within the disc. Also, the vacuum within the disc stimulates growth of blood supply, secondarily stimulating a healing response.
This results in pain reduction and proper healing at the injured site.
